Adenomyosis: Signs and Symptoms
At times, adenomyosis does not cause any symptoms at all. It occurs silently. Sometimes, adenomyosis causes very little discomfort and pain. You are able to manage the discomfort and carry on with regular activities. At other times, adenomyosis causes severe symptoms and you find it difficult to go about your usual routine. You are unable to function normally and are unsure of doing regular chores.
Signs and symptoms of adenomyosis include:
– Severe and piercing pain in pelvic region during menstruation and continuing for a prolonged time (This is dysmenorrhea)
– Very heavy menstrual bleeding sometimes even leading to a flooding situation
– Occurrence of bleeding in-between monthly periods
– Menstrual cramps occurring throughout periods
– Worsening of menstrual cramps as you grow older
– Pain during intercourse
– Passing of clots during menstrual periods
– Heaviness, bloating, and tenderness in lower abdomen region due to enlargement of uterus
– Excessive pressure on bladder
– Heaviness in legs and thighs and you feel like dragging your feet to walk
– Pain during ovulation period
– Prolonged bleeding extending from eight to fourteen days
– Strong feeling of intense contractions in uterus as present in the last stage of labor
