The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has planned to make the Greater Noida city greener by increasing the greenery coverage to 40 percent of the total area by creating green belts.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, in the board meeting held in the second week of June 2011, has allocated an extra 240 square kilometer for further development. The Authority has announced that 96 square kilometer of this land will be developed exclusively as green areas with a budget of over Rs. 10 crore.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority also intends to plant 10 lakh native trees in the city by 2031. The Authority will soon launch a 150,000 saplings distribution program among the residents to encourage them for planting trees in and around their houses, residential plots, and open spaces to change the landscape of the city.
