The Government of India has increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of copra from Rs. 4,525 per quintal to Rs. 5,100 per quintal for calender year 2012. This is an increase of Rs. 575 a quintal or 12.71 percent over last year’s MSP fixed for copra.

The Government of India has increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of copra of milling variety from Rs. 4,525 per quintal (100 Kilograms) to Rs. 5,100 per quintal and of ball variety from Rs. 4,775 per quintal to Rs. 5,350 per quintal for the calender year 2012.
This is an increase of Rs. 575 a quintal or 12.71 or 12.04 percent over last year’s Minimum Support Price fixed for copra.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) took this decision to hike the MSP of copra in its meeting held on Wednesday, January 04, 2012 in New Delhi.
Every year, the Government of India determines the Minimum Support Price of copra based on the recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Cost and Prices (CACP) keeping in view factors like increase in the cost of production, demand and supply situation, inter-crop parity, and trend of domestic and international market prices.
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) is the Central Nodal Agency (CNA) to undertake the price support operations of copra in 2012 season.
