The Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) had launched its ambitious housing scheme ‘Atal Vihar Yojana’ on June 26, 2012.
Booking or registration for the Chhattisgarh Housing Board’s residential scheme Atal Vihar Yojana was open for the eligible applicants from July 02, 2012 to September 30, 2012.
Atal Vihar Yojana is a residential scheme named after Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a former Prime Minister of India. This project was earlier named as Vikas Nagar Yojana.
Atal Vihar Yojana is the biggest housing scheme of Chhattisgarh Housing Board in the state since Chhattisgarh came into being on November 01, 2000.
The Chhattisgarh Housing Board will construct 100,000 houses at 40 locations in the state under Atal Vihar Yojana at an estimated cost of Rs. 11,800 crore. In the first year, the Chhattisgarh Housing Board will construct 30,000 houses at block and district headquarters. In the second year, 40,000 houses would be built. The remaining 30,000 houses would be constructed in the third year of the project.
The Government of Chhattisgarh will provide a subsidy of Rs. 40,000 for an LIG (Lower Income Group) housing unit and Rs. 80,000 for a EWS residential unit. For this, the state government will provide Rs. 240 crore as subsidy for the Economically Weaker Sections and Lower Income Groups.
The Chhattisgarh government would also provide land to the Chhattisgarh Housing Board for executing the project at the rate of one rupee per square foot.
The Chhattisgarh Housing Board had earlier launched a residential scheme ‘Atal Awas Yojana’ for the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category of the society having an annual income of less than Rs. 60,000.
