3. Blood pressure is a major factor for abdominal aortic aneurysm. Lower stress levels to keep blood pressure under control. Take blood pressure medications regularly. Eat a low-sodium diet to control high blood pressure.

4. Give up smoking. Attend regular counseling sessions to quit smoking easily without withdrawal symptoms.

5. Exercise daily for half an hour to manage body weight. Take advice of your doctor and choose exercises that best suit your condition. Losing weight cannot alter aortic aneurysm situation. However, it can definitely lower further complications and help you undergo surgery, if the need arises.

6. Reduce alcohol intake and restrict it to a maximum of two drinks a day.

7. Go for regular checkups. Call emergency medical service if you have persistent or intense pain in the belly. Do not delay.
