Psychological Symptoms
Most symptoms of agoraphobia are psychological in nature. These include:
– Feeling panicky that you might have a heart attack, be unable to breathe, or even die
– Feeling embarrassed that others would notice your panic attack and you would feel humiliated
– Feeling that you might become crazy
– Feeling depressed
– Having low self-esteem and self-confidence
– Feeling very anxious and dread most situations and events
– Fear of being alone in the house or anywhere else
Behavioral Symptoms
Assurance: You need to be assured by somebody else that you will not encounter any panicky situation or event. You prefer venturing out only with a friend or family member. At times, you need a drink or presence of any specific object like your tablet to be able to confront any situation.
Avoidance: You avoid situations that trigger anxiety. Sometimes you refuse to move out of your home.
Escape: You just want to run away from a stressful place or event, back into your comfort zone, be it your home or anywhere else.
Physical Symptoms
Physical symptoms occur only in anxious or panicky situations. Such symptoms are rare as you avoid panicky situations. Physical symptoms include:
– Sweating
– Accelerated heart beat
– Trembling
– Fast and shallow breathing
– Dizziness
– Feeling hot and flushed
– Nausea
– Diarrhea
